Shirene (sher-een) is a Seattle-based graphic and visual designer with a background in fine arts, illustration, marketing and social media. Creativity has always been a large part of her identity as she grew up around painters and musicians, and her love for the subject and thirst for knowledge led her to graduate from University of Washington in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in Art History, minor in French and a certificate in sales & marketing. In 2019, she earned a User Interface/Visual Design for Digital Program certificate at the School of Visual Concepts (SVC).
Her drive to build unique, intuitive experiences that solve user pain points and other design problems began when she redesigned the Steam gaming app at the SVC. And, in her Graphic Designer role at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, she produced everything from PowerPoint presentations to brochures, infographics and logos, including one logo that was selected by the Corporate Communications team as the official logo for Otsuka’s patient-driven initiative. Over the course of her design career, Shirene has learned she is naturally curious as well as passionate about finding the intersection of minimalist and dreamy. Ultimately, with every project, she loves pursuing the goal of making the audience feel uplifted, safe and taken care of.
In her free time, Shirene makes and exhibits mixed media portraits of women defying what society says they “should” be (you can view the portraits here). She also hangs out at coffee shops, writes poetry and rewatches her favorite show Frasier.
